THE COACH (Click here for Mike's IMDB page)
Mike Randleman has been an actor in Los Angeles for the past 20 years and is a proud member of SAG, AFTRA and Equity. Before moving to California, Mike received a MFA in Acting from Oklahoma University. His extensive acting resume includes over 200 sketch performances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno , Real Time with Bill Maher and ABC's Into the Night .
This season, Mike has appeared on The United States of Tara , The Middle and the upcoming HBO series Luck . He has, much to his chagrin, played Michael Moore many times including on Arrested Development (let's face it, Moore's not the best looking guy). He is currently writing and starring in the web series, The Celibate, which is sadly, based on his dating life.
For the past ten years. Mike had toured the country with his Insta-Comedy Improv Intensive workshop, teaching hundreds of students and staging dozens of shows from Harlem, New York to the International Thespian's Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska to colleges across the land. All with nothing but a few chairs and a few audience suggestions.
Now the shop is open in LA. Let the funny begin.
WHAT DOES THE COACH DO?
He makes unfunny people funnier and funny people really f'ing funny. . . (and he does it fast!)
The difference between being the actor who gets the audition and the actor who gets the job is often a small one. To become the actor who gets the job, you need to have many tools in your acting toolbox. One of the important tools you can have is the ability to bring the "funny."
That's where the L.A. Comedy Coach comes in.
In record time, the Coach can help you find your comic voice. By cutting through the clutter and getting to the heart of the scene, you'll discover new levels of funny. The Coach can help you with that ten-page pilot audition tomorrow, create killer characters for your "Funny or Die" submission or polish that monologue for your college entrance audition. He has helped launch one-person shows. He made an unfunny lawyer funny, even if only for a day (one of his greatest victories to date).
Can the Coach help you? Oh, yeah. Give him a call today (424-214-0275) and start "The Serious Business of Being Funny." (Or click here to send an email)

The Coach didn't play hard to get.
"COACH, YOU MEAN I DON'T HAVE TO BE IN L.A.???"
That's what I mean. Using the latest technology, we can get "performance ready" through the magic of SKYPE. We set a time, fire up the Commodore 64 and bring the funny.
"BUT, COACH, IS IT WORTH IT???"
Let me tell you a story. The Coach hates it when old people talk about the olden times, but pull up a milk stool and grab a pickle from the barrel.
Way back when the Coach was a young actor, he was auditioning for graduate schools. At the time the Coach was going through an artsy phase, wearing a lot of black and dating a girl in a beret. And, despite being a comic genius, he chose for his audition pieces the opening of "Richard III" and a Jamie Tyrone monologue from "A Long Day's Journey Into Night." Literally two of the darkest pieces in the history of theatre. Seriously, not a lot of yuks there. For some reason (the Coach assumes it was professional jealousy) his professors never pointed out the folly of his choices. In the end, the Coach got into a program . . . Barely.
The point is, if the technology that exists now existed then, this would never have happened. The young Coach would have had the advantage of working with a professional actor, a professional teacher, to help choose the material that fit his type! L.A. ACTOR NOTE--You've got to know your type!
In these auditions you only get one chance to show what you got. Are you ready? The Coach will make sure you are. So put that pickle down and let's get to work!
WORDS FROM PLAYERS AND A FEW OWNERS
"When I first met Mike Randleman, I was studying acting at the University of Oklahoma. What struck me inititally was his ease and presence with people. He immediately became a favorite with the actors before we even started working. His warm heart and grounded presence immediately dispelled all tension, especially for those of us who had never attempted comedy or improv before (which is usually a terrifying notion.) What struck me next was how quickly and effortlessly the comedy work seemed to come, from his instruction. You immediately realize, "Hey, this makes sense. Finally. I can totally do this. And do it well." He's just that good. He's simple, direct, and one of the funniest people & professionals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. With Mike, you will get years and years of tried-and-true professional comedy experience, an incredibly keen perception, and a safe environment where you will feel relaxed enough to learn the most amount possible. You'll be in stitches. Don't miss out on this Los Angeles gem!"
"I can see immediate results after an actor works with Mike Randleman. They are not only more relaxed in the audition room, but they make bolder, more interesting choices. Everyone should learn the freeing techniques that he brings to his coaching."
"Mike's teaching style is superb. I'd never written a one minute comedic monologue before, yet Mike found a way to tease out ideas and give them structure. We created 3 different monologues that have helped me book jobs and recently got me several callbacks for the CBS Diversity Showcase. Not to mention that my friends STILL quote lines from my work with Mike. Haha!"
"I had secured an audition for the CBS Diversity showcase and needed some HELP! Having to create and perform three different unique characters in a 3-5 minute time span was overwhelming and I didn't know exactly how to begin, yet alone utilize the time allotted to me and winning them over with my acting chops! Mike was the perfect fit. I know, anyone, can write 'perfect fit' for any testimonial. But, in this case, from our very first meeting Mike had the personality, excitement and belief in me needed for me to rock the writing, organizing and implementing of ideas for that audition. Having never written sketch before, Mike was patient, passionate and always open to my ideas. He also kept me accountable with numerous e-mails and phone chats to make sure I was on the right path! He's great at what he does and it shines in the way he speaks to you and channels your energy and your ideas for the betterment of your performance. With Mike's expertise and experience, I went into the audition knowing that I had done all that I can and rocked that audition! And I wouldn't have had I not had Mike on my team. Look forward to working on other projects with him!"
"Mike helped me develop my basic ideas into full characters that I now use live in stand-up. He gave me the tools to take my comedy to a more developed, funny, and interesting level. It's made all the difference in live performances and as such I regularly get showcase shows just from performing at open mics."
